Kim Kardashian was honored at the 2018 CFDA Awards on Monday, June 4, with the organization’s inaugural “Influencer Award,” and she arrived at the Brooklyn Museum rocking a signature KKW look — from the midriff-baring Rick Owens crop top and maxiskirt that showed off her famous curves to the perfectly contoured glow she’s made famous. With a tousled ponytail, sculpted cheekbones and a dewy radiance, the KUWTK star’s glam is perfect for summer, and we’ve got the scoop on exactly how to recreate it.
Kim’s longtime makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic dreamed up the luminous look, which was an ode to her go-to beauty. “I wanted Kim to have her classic ‘Kim K Glam’ look for tonight’s event and not veer too far off from what she is known for,” he shared. “To change it up a bit for the CFDA’s tonight, I added gloss to her lids and went for a darker lip than we normally go for.”
Since the key to any makeup look is good skin, Dedivanovic first prepped the beauty mogul’s complexion with the Rodial Dragon’s Blood Cleansing Water, Vitamin C Energising Face Mask and Brightening Cleansing Pads (both great for boosting glow) and Rose Gold Moisturizer.
From there, it was all about the contour and highlight. The KKW Beauty Concealer Kit in Shade 7 was the basis of the look, and Mario set the concealer with the brand’s Baking Powder. To contour the cheekbones, forehead and jawline, the makeup guru used the KKW Beauty Creme Contour Sticks in Medium I and II, before moving onto the KKW Beauty Highlighter Palette in Palette I to add light to the cheekbones and cupid’s bow.
When it came to creating that glossy bronze eye, Mario turned to the KKW x Mario Palette. He smudged the Loyalty shade along the lash line and then mixed both the Armenia and Loyalty hues over the entire lid. For an unexpected edge, he added a dab of the KKW x Mario Lipgloss in Super Nude over the shadow. Super fluttery lashes and defined brows (courtesy of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Medium Brown) were the finishing touches.
KKW sported the ultimate ‘90s neutral pout, and the Glam Masters judge used both a liner (KKW Beauty Lip Liner in Nude 2) and stick (KKW Beauty Creme Lipstick in Nude 2) for the throwback. To complete the “goddess glam” look, mane man Chris Appleton pulled the mom of three’s wavy raven-hued locks into a piecey high ponytail that is the quintessential beach-ready ‘do.
